Katsina Trains 18,000 Teachers, Distributes 20,000 Tablets to Boost Learning

The Katsina State Government has rolled out a massive education reform programme aimed at modernizing teaching and learning across the state.

Speaking during the official launch in Katsina, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda said the government has commenced the training of 18,000 teachers and the distribution of 20,000 tablets (mini-computers) loaded with digital lesson plans and instructional materials.

According to the governor, the initiative is designed to strengthen teacher capacity, promote digital learning, and align classroom instruction with global education standards.

“We are equipping our teachers with the right skills and modern tools to improve the quality of education in Katsina State. No society can progress without investing in its teachers and students,” Governor Radda stated.

The teacher training follows a step-down model, where 90 master trainers will cascade knowledge and skills to thousands of teachers across the state’s schools. The distributed tablets are expected to make lesson delivery more effective and accessible, especially in rural areas.

In addition to the training and tablets, the government also unveiled other interventions, including the distribution of 30,000 school uniforms to disadvantaged pupils, installation of CCTV cameras in 130 schools to improve security, and provision of 70 motorcycles to supervisors for enhanced school monitoring.

The Katsina State Government disclosed that it has invested over ₦120 billion in education since 2023, covering infrastructure upgrades, teacher welfare, and educational programmes.

Education stakeholders in the state have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a bold step toward revitalizing Katsina’s education sector.
